Originally from Oran, she became Yacef Saadi’s associate at the age of 19, planting bombs and walking under her white haik veil in the Casbah.

Captured with Saadi on September 24, 1957, she became a lawyer after Algeria won independence, and married Rabah Bitat, one of the five historic leaders of the FLN. Today she is a senator.
